Literature Text

You call me Butterfly,
and when I ask why,
you say it's because
in your hands I am small.
In your hands I am fragile,
a harmless distraction,
a pretty thing soon to die,
then you will catch yourself a new Butterfly.
Then let me fly away...

Just a quick note of possible interest: "Julius" and "Butterfly" were originally one poem. It begins with Julius, and ends with Butterfly, so if you were wondering, that's how it would have been read.
And the poems are still about the same two people. She calls him Julius because in her eyes he casts such a large shadow because he is so great and has footprints that no other man will ever be able to fill, and she recognizes that she is small and not good enough but hopes that he will look at her, smile kindly at her, hold her, kiss her, love her. And he calls her Butterfly.
